Unofficial Bio:
Though I write everything from literary essays to articles to short stories, I am most excited about writing books for children and young adults. My debut young adult novel, The Accident, the YA finalist for the 2024 Tassy Walden Awards for New Voices in Children’s Literature, will be published by Woodhall Press in October, 2025. I’ve also written several picture books, both fiction and nonfiction, and am hopeful that those will be out in the world someday too. A life-long lover of books, I’ve wanted to be an author since elementary school. But I am a procrastinator, so I did a lot of other kinds of writing before I finally got around to penning my first novel.
As a journalist, I’ve worked as a reporter-trainee at The New York Times, a stringer at The Providence Journal and The Philadelphia Inquirer, a health editor at Vogue and CoveyClub, and a freelance writer—covering topics ranging from the effects of music on the brain to literary landmarks to clean beauty—for magazines and online publications. After many years of article-writing, I went back to school as a graduate student in creative writing at Wesleyan University, and started writing short stories and essays, publishing several pieces in literary magazines and even snagging a short story award along the way. I love to inspire young writers, just as my own teachers encouraged me, and have taught creative writing to elementary school through high school students. THE ACCIDENT is my debut novel, but I am currently working on a second YA novel set in Paris. The mother of two young adults, I write from Simsbury, Connecticut, where I live with my husband, a bossy dog named Joey, and hundreds of books.
